Biography:

Patrick Rumble is a Professor in the Department of French and Italian, and affiliated faculty in the European Studies and Visual Culture Studies programs, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he specializes in the history of Italian cinema, literature, culture and society. He has served as Chair of the Department of French and Italian, Director of the Center for European Studies, and he has directed and taught in study-abroad programs in Italy and the UK. He is the recipient of a Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award. He serves on the editorial boards of several scholarly journals and magazines. His books include Pier Paolo Pasolini: Contemporary Perspectives; Allegories of Contamination: Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Trilogy of Life; and an edition of avant-garde writer Elio Pagliarani’s The Girl Carla and Other Poems. His recent edition of Paolo Gioli: The Complete Film Works includes, as a special feature, Rumble’s documentary film on the contemporary avant-garde filmmaker and photographer Paolo Gioli.
