HISTORY:
On March 3, 2021 the then Governing Council of IRIS voted unanimously to approve the IRIS by-laws which restructured the governance of IRIS, establishing the IRIS Executive Committee as the shared governance body of the Institute.
Prior to March 3, 2021, IRIS operated under the by-laws of the International Institute (predecessor of IRIS, approved 2/13/2013) and following the guidance offered in the proposal for the creation of IRIS (4/12/2015; effective 7/1/2015).
INSTITUTE FOR REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL STUDIES GOVERNANCE:
An Executive Committee provides shared governance oversight of IRIS.
2023-2024 ACADEMIC YEAR MEETINGS:
IRIS convenes a monthly General Meeting on the first Wednesday of each month the UW-Madison is in session. The General Meeting is held from 9:00-9:45am. The Executive Committee of IRIS meets periodically during the academic year following the General Meetings from 9:45 am to 10:30 am. For the 2023-2024 academic year meetings will be held in 206 Ingraham Hall or via Zoom on the following days:
- October 4, 2023 (we will have both General and Executive Committee meetings this day and we will plan to meet in person in 206 Ingraham Hall)
