Information sessions for Summer 2024 & Academic Year 2024-2025 FLAS awards

The FLAS application for Summer 2024 & AY 2024-2025 is now open!

This year we will be hosting six information sessions about the Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) awards for the study of less commonly taught languages at the UW-Madison for summer 2024 and academic year 2024-2025!

Open to U.S. citizens & permanent residents, FLAS awards support students – both undergraduate & graduate students – in acquiring foreign language & area studies competencies. During these info sessions, we will discuss eligibility requirements, languages supported, the application & award process, and more. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

There will be four in-person and two online sessions over the course of the coming months. They are scheduled for:

  • Monday, November 13, 2023, 4-5 pm, 336 Ingraham Hall
  • Thursday, November 16, 2023, 6-7 pm, online (note: this is a combined Boren & FLAS award info session) – register HERE
  • Tuesday, November 28, 2023, 12-1 pm, 336 Ingraham Hall
  • Tuesday, December 5, 2023, 2-3 pm, IAP Resource Center (3rd Floor Red Gym)
  • Wednesday, January 24, 2024, 5-6 pm, online – register HERE
  • Thursday, January 25, 2024, 4-5 pm, 336 Ingraham Hall
